When more than one rule applies
Sometimes two contract rules give a rate for the same hour, such as Sunday at 1.5× and overtime at 2×. How rules combine decides which one you’re paid.
Choosing how rules combine
- Open Jobs, tap your job, then Contract rules.
- Scroll to How rules combine.
- Set When multipliers overlap:
- Highest wins: each hour gets the highest rate that applies. Most contracts work this way: premiums don’t “pyramid”.
- First in the list wins: the rule higher in your list wins, even if it pays less.
- Multiply together: the rates multiply, such as 1.5 × 2 = 3×. Choose this only if your contract says so.
- Tap Save on the job.
An example
On a Sunday paid at 1.5×, you work 11 hours with daily overtime at 2× after 8:
- Highest wins: 8 hours at 1.5×, 3 hours at 2×.
- First in the list wins, with the Sunday rate first: all 11 hours at 1.5×.
- Multiply together: 8 hours at 1.5×, 3 hours at 3×.
Ordering your rules
With First in the list wins, the order matters. Tap Edit on the Contract rules screen and drag rules into order.
Good to know
- Dollar premiums, such as $1.50 an hour for nights, are always added on top, whichever you choose.
- Work week starts, in the same section, sets the week for weekly overtime and rules after hours in the week.
