Overtime and rates

  • The overtime window (such as midnight to 6 a.m.)

Some contracts pay the hours in a set window, such as midnight to 6 a.m., as overtime from the very first hour. Your regular hours only start after the window ends.

  • Saturday, Sunday and other day rates

A day rate pays every hour on chosen days at a higher rate, such as Sundays at double time.

  • Daily and weekly overtime

Overtime is the extra you're paid for long days or long weeks. Paycheq uses your province's rules, or your contract's if you've set them up, and works it out for you.

  • Shifts entered at 1.5× or 2×

If your employer paid a whole shift at time and a half or double time, you can enter it at that rate. If the shift also goes into overtime, Paycheq pays the higher of the two rates, never one multiplied by the other.

  • The rate highlighted on the Clock card

While you're on the clock, the Clock card's Hourly rate row highlights the rate you're earning right now. It moves by itself when your pay rate changes.

  • Other rates, such as a lead rate

If you're sometimes paid a different rate, such as a lead hand, charge or acting rate, add it to your job. Then pick it for the shifts it applies to.

  • Raises and retro pay

When your rate goes up, add the raise in Paycheq with its date. If the raise is dated back, Paycheq works out the retro pay you're owed and shows it until it's paid.
